From October 1 to November 12, 2017, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Goochland will host Beyond Bridges, an exhibition featuring 21 works of premier Christian, Muslim, and Jewish contemporary artists. The exhibition is organized and curated by CARAVAN, a peacebuilding arts nonprofit started by The Reverend Canon Paul-Gordon Chandler. Originally exhibited in Cairo, London, Paris, New York, Chicago, and more, Beyond Bridges seeks to build “creative bridges of dialogue” through its featured artwork by encouraging viewers to discuss similarities in various religions, rather than differences.

Paul-Gordon Chandler, an Episcopal priest, art curator, author, interfaith advocate, and authority on Christian-Muslim relations, will be preaching at the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services at St. Mary’s on October 1. You are also invited to join him in a discussion of his new book, In Search of a Prophet: A Spiritual Journey with Kahlil Gibran during the 10:00 a.m. Adult Forum. In his work, he “explores how Kahlil Gibran, a supreme East-West figure, can be a much-needed guide in the midst of today’s global challenges, related to peace, harmony, and building bridges between the creeds of the Middle East and West.” An opening reception will follow the 11:00 a.m. service.

All October 1 events are open to the public! Please see the attached flyers for more detail, and please feel free to post them anywhere! In addition to the event on October 1, St. Mary’s invites individuals and groups to tour the exhibition Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule a weekday visit, contact Elizabeth Baker at (804)784-5678, or This email address is being protected from spambots.
