St. Matthias’ congregation is one in which there are many opportunities to deepen one’s spiritual life. Peruse the following and you will find a simple once-a-week Sunday Forum up to a three-year course entitled “Education for Ministry,”(EFM) You would be welcomed by simply “showing up” to all classes with the exception of EFM which requires tuition and pre-registration.
Sunday Morning Adult Forums
These are held between the early and late worship services each week. Generally we meet in Morrison Hall however on special occasions we may meet in the Commons or the Nave. You can find the 2017-2018 schedule here.
Monday Night Kerygma
This group meets at 7 p.m. throughout the year, usually in the Library. This group varies its studies from Books of the Bible to current theological books. Most recently, they completed the Book of Proverbs.
This is a new program being offered beignning in the fall of 2016. We will be showing movies with a disucssion to follow. The movies will be secular in nature but our discussions will explore the religious and spiritual signifigance of the films. You can find more information about our movie schedule here.
The Church Library
The Library is maintained under the Adult Education Commission to ensure the availability of Christian education books and other materials, all of which can be read and checked out by parishioners.
There are currently two informal women’s Book Clubs which meet once a month during the day. Parishioners are encouraged to form groups of interested members.
The Men’s Group meets at St Matthias every Wednesday morning at 8:30 for one hour in Morrison Hall. The group reads and discusses books of a religious and spiritual nature.
