Kairos Prison Ministry has always started with cookies! Baked and prayed over, they come with the volunteers into prison as a form of“Agape” (God’s unconditional love.) Two St. Matthias members – Paul Begin & Chip Jones – will be taking cookies into Nottoway Correctional Center on Kairos 39 in June. They need more than 200 DOZEN cookies! Please help them and joyfully join this life changing ministry.cookies kairos

Cookies baked with love are always welcomed! Bring as many dozen Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Ginger, Sugar or Peanut Butter Cookies as you’d like. Cookies must be bagged in Quart-sized Ziploc bags, one dozen cookies per bag. Bags should be labeled as to the type of cookie inside. Do NOT use icing, candies, sprinkled sugar, or any other type of coating on the outside of the cookie. Do not add fruit to the cookies. (No Raisins, please!) A plastic tub will be in thecommons area, in which to place your cookies, from Sunday, June 3 throughSunday June 17.

Not everyone can go into prison but everyone can be part of the Kairos ministry! Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Did you know that St. Matthias has over 35 parishioners that help with pastoral Care? This is a wonderful group where we take care of our own. The Pastoral Care ministry helps out St. Matthias families during times of illness or surgery, joy over a birth or grieving a death by showing care and concern to families in need. We most often offer families a home prepared meal to be brought to their home, but if you're challenged in the kitchen or for time, think pizza, Chinese , or store bought rotisserie chicken. Some families prefer not to have a meal, so we offer flowers, sometimes a plant and/or a book and cards. Being a part of this caring ministry means a commitment of one week a year, that’s it, where you will be “on-call” to help as the need arises within the congregation. If you have a need for the assistance of Pastoral Care, or if you would like to help out and be a part of this wonderful group of individuals, Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
